The UK government has introduced stricter Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) for non-domestic rented buildings. From April 2027, all commercial properties must achieve an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C or above. By April 2030, that requirement will rise to EPC B. These changes are part of the UK’s broader strategy to reduce carbon emissions and improve the energy performance of its building stock in line with net-zero targets.
