This July 12th at 4:30, three brave members of our team, John Bannon, Alex Page, and Paul Collier, are taking on a challenge that’s not for the faint-hearted: abseiling down the iconic Liverpool Cathedral, the tallest cathedral in the UK.

At a towering 101 metres (331 feet), Liverpool Cathedral isn’t just a stunning piece of architecture; it’s a symbol of strength, resilience, and community. And that’s exactly what this challenge is all about.

We’re doing this to raise £600 for the Standing Tall Foundation, a charity that’s changing lives every single day. From supporting veterans and individuals in recovery to offering mental health and wellbeing services, their work is deeply personal and profoundly impactful.

The Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, officially known as the Cathedral Church of Christ in Liverpool, is a monumental symbol of architectural grandeur and community spirit. Standing at an impressive 101 metres (331 feet), it holds the title of the tallest cathedral in the UK and is among the tallest non-spired church buildings in the world. Stretching 189 metres (207 yards) in length, it’s also the longest cathedral globally. Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, construction began in 1904 and was completed in 1978, showcasing a stunning Neo-Gothic Revival style. Perched on St James’s Mount, the cathedral not only dominates Liverpool’s skyline but also serves as a powerful symbol of resilience and unity, making it a fitting location for challenges that aim to uplift and support the community.

John

"I’ve seen firsthand how much of a difference the Standing Tall Foundation makes. The charity helps those who’ve faced far greater challenges than I ever have. If I can help even one person through this, it’s worth every step down that wall."

Paul

"Sure, it’s a bit scary, but it’s nothing compared to what some people go through every single day. This abseil is more than just a challenge; it’s a symbol of hope. We’re taking a leap to help others find their footing again. And that’s something truly powerful."

Alex

"I’ve never done anything like this before, but when I heard about the cause, I didn’t hesitate. The work Standing Tall does with veterans and people in recovery is incredible. This is my way of giving back and showing that we’re all in this together."
