Case Study: AC Condenser
B-engineering was requested to assess the Greengate site in preparation for relocating 2 x Dakin condensers for a building extension.
Project
Delivery
Once the work began, the team first pumped down the Daikin condenser to recover the refrigerant, was then stored away. The onsite electricians locked off the power supply and disconnected it from the original location.
A frame was constructed using Unistrut to support the condensers in the new location, and tray work was installed in preparation for the new pipework. In the control room, the pipework was completely redone, with new piping and communication cables installed, along with two new condensate tank pumps and drain hoses.
All internal pipework was suspended using BBJ’s and 10mm threaded bar, and the external pipework was fitted to the tray works and connected to the condenser. After completing the pipework, a pressure test was conducted using oxygen-free nitrogen and safe seal gauge lines, with both systems tested to 500 psig for 24 hours.
The next day, engineers discovered that the pressure in the system had remained stable. OFN was released, and we began the evacuation process using two vacuum pumps and two sets of gauges. The engineers connected the gauge lines to the condensers and then to the vacuum pumps, evacuating the systems to 1 torr before releasing the refrigerant back into them. All commissioning tests were completed, and the systems were signed off.
"B-Engineering has provided our FGAS inspections, AC Repairs, and Installations since 2023. I have found them responsive to call-out situations sending well-trained and safety-conscious engineers to attend to site requirements. Some of our AC Units are aging and B-Eng has given good advice on replacements and has provided clear and competitive quotations. Highly Recommended!”
