Gas Purge

Case Study:
Gas Purge Decommissioning

Project

B-engineering were asked to safely de-commission a gas service pipe to enable the client to safely modify the building and internal services.

The team executed the task with careful planning and safety focus. They assessed the site for hazards, established a decommissioning strategy, and isolated the gas supply, ensuring no residual gas remained. Using specialised tools, they safely disconnected the pipe while monitoring for leaks and readying emergency protocols.

Delivery

Our in-house engineer safely 'purged' the gas line by injecting inert gas to remove hazardous gas, thereby preventing a potentially combustible mixture that could pose risks to workers. This process adhered to UP1A standards, utilising nitrogen, a flare stack, and a gascoseeker to verify that the line was completely free of gas.

After decommissioning, they provided the client with detailed documentation of the work, safety checks, and the gas service's final status.

Benefits

This thorough approach ensured immediate safety for building modifications and set a standard for future engineering projects. The client could confidently proceed with their modifications, knowing all precautions were taken.
