Collier International
Case Study: Major Project
Colliers International Group Inc. is a Canada-based diversified professional services and investment management company with approximately 18,000 employees in more than 400 offices in 65 countries. KJ Tait is a professional practice of Building Services Engineers with six offices nationwide. They have extensive experience working throughout the UK in all sectors of the construction industry and with particular expertise in complex and low energy buildings. For this project Colliers manage the building for an investment fund with KJ Tait advising on the building services within the building.
Project
After several major leaks in the heating and chilled water pipework within the building, it was decided that all the pipework should be swapped from carbon steel to stainless steel. B-engineering was chosen via a competitive tender process to upgrade the heating and chilled water pipework throughout the operational building spanning 8 floors.
Delivery
We systematically removed and replaced all existing pipework in the building, one floor at a time, with stainless steel crimped pipework. Despite having to carry out the work while tenants were still present, we ensured the building remained operational throughout.
The tasks included stripping out the old pipework, installing new pipes, adding thermal insulation, performing water treatment, and recommissioning the systems. All the work was completed ahead of schedule, and the systems were back online in time for the summer cooling season.
Key Figures
