Survitec

Case Study: Manufacturing

Survitec produces life-saving equipment, such as underwater and fighter pilot jumpsuits, where any pollutants or manufacturing defects are unacceptable during production.

Project

The newly constructed site faced significant overheating challenges in the summer, with internal temperatures reaching up to 40°C, compromising the specialist glue. To address this recurring issue, temporary cooling measures like setting up an internal tent within the extensive production facility were used in previous years, proving to be costly annually. B-engineering was tasked with installing a permanent, energy-efficient cooling system for the area.

Delivery

We created a ducted split Mitsubishi electric air conditioning system that was integrated into the current operations. This setup ensured that the glue production area remained consistently below 25°C.

Benefits

  • Improved product quality: By maintaining a consistent temperature below 25°C in the glue production area, the customer can ensure that the specialist glue is not compromised by overheating, resulting in better product quality.

  • Cost savings: The installation of a permanent, energy-efficient cooling system eliminates the need for costly temporary cooling measures like setting up internal tents, saving the customer money in the long run.

  • Operational efficiency: With a reliable cooling system in place, the customer can focus on production without interruptions or the need to constantly monitor and adjust temporary cooling solutions.

  • Enhanced working conditions: By creating a more comfortable working environment with optimal temperatures, the cooling system can improve employee productivity and satisfaction.

Testimonials

I just want to send you a message of thanks for the way your company planned, installed, and completed the DX cooling project at the Survitec site in Ellesmere Port.

From day one to completion the job was carried out in a safe efficient and professional manner, Eddie and his team demonstrated good communication with our technical and safety personnel as well as with the contractors from DBC Industrial forming the dura-screen wall as part of the project. The B-Engineering installation team were always helpful, and polite with all members

of Survitec staff and effectively contributed to minimising any disruption to production. I would highly recommend this team to any organisation considering this type of installation.

Mike, your project lead stayed connected with me through regular site visits and weekly Progress reports including visuals and timeline progress up to the completion and handover of O&M’s.

Since the system was commissioned, we have monitored the temperatures within the area daily and the results, especially in hot weather periods have exceeded all expectations, holding the constant perfect temperature conditions we require.

Rob, please pass on my thanks to all the Team and I look forward to further discussing the second phase cooling proposal at the Ellesmere Port site.
